1. Ultralight Solo Shelter Weight

2. No-Sag SilPoly Construction

The shelter is made from 20D Nano-Ripstop SilPoly. Polyester absorbs very little water compared with many nylon fabrics, helping the tent maintain its shape and usable interior room during wet weather.

Maintaining fabric tension can also reduce the need to leave the shelter during rain to repeatedly adjust loose panels and guy lines.

3. 2500 mm Silicone Coating

The fabric receives a sil/sil 2500 mm treatment, meaning silicone is used on both sides of the material. Silicone supports water resistance while helping the lightweight fabric retain useful tear strength.

The top cone is reinforced with X-Pac material to support the high-tension area where the trekking pole contacts the shelter.

4. Fast Single-Pole Pitch

The Owyhee 1P Tent is designed to pitch around one trekking pole placed in the center. This lets backpackers use equipment they already carry rather than adding a conventional tent-pole system.

A compatible dedicated carbon-fiber center pole can also be used when you want to keep your trekking pole available for hiking or day trips.

5. Adjustable Ventilation and Draft Protection

Sewn-in line-loc adjusters make it easy to change the height and tension of the shelter. Pitch the perimeter close to the ground to reduce drafts and improve weather protection.

During warmer or more humid conditions, raise the shelter slightly to increase airflow. Controlled ventilation can help manage condensation produced by occupants, damp clothing and changing nighttime temperatures.

6. Storm-Oriented Guy-Out System

The six primary stake points create the standard pitch. Five additional mid-panel guy-out points provide extra support during windy or exposed conditions.

The package includes supplemental 2 mm guy-out cords and mini line-locs for these attachment points. Additional stakes may be needed when all five supplemental guy-outs are used.

Steep wall angles help the shelter shed precipitation, while double lap-felled seams contribute to the tent’s weather-focused construction.

7. Floorless or Double-Wall Flexibility

The shelter can be used by itself as a lightweight floorless tent. This setup provides flexible space for sleeping equipment, wet boots and gear without adding the weight of a permanently attached floor.

When insects or wet ground are a concern, add the separately available Owyhee 1P Insert. The insert includes a bathtub floor and mesh canopy, creating an enclosed sleeping area while leaving approximately one-third of the shelter available as a vestibule.

What Is Included?

Each package includes the Owyhee 1P Tent, six Argali 7075 aluminum Piton tent stakes, five supplemental 2 mm guy-out cords with mini line-locs and one tube of Argali Seam Tough seam sealer.

The Owyhee 1P Insert and dedicated center pole are optional accessories unless they are specifically included in the product configuration selected at checkout.

How to Pitch the Owyhee 1P Tent

Select a relatively level campsite and remove sharp sticks, rocks or other objects that could damage the shelter or sleeping equipment.

Lay out the tent and loosely stake the six main corners. Position a trekking pole beneath the reinforced top cone and raise the shelter to approximately its 50-inch peak height.

Walk around the tent and tighten the line-loc adjusters gradually. Balanced tension is more useful than pulling one corner excessively tight.

When strong wind is expected, attach the supplemental guy-out cords to the five mid-panel points. Use secure anchors and position the shelter so the narrowest or most aerodynamic side faces the prevailing wind when the campsite allows.

Choosing Between Floorless and Insert Modes

Use the floorless configuration for the lowest possible packed weight and maximum interior flexibility. A lightweight groundsheet can be placed beneath the sleeping pad while leaving the gear area uncovered.

Add an insert during mosquito season or whenever a fully enclosed sleeping compartment is preferred. The insert creates a mesh-protected sleeping area with a bathtub floor while preserving vestibule space for equipment.

Pairing the outer tent and insert creates a complete shelter weight of approximately 34.2 ounces, including six stakes and the supplied storage sacks.

Seam Sealing the Owyhee 1P Tent

The Owyhee 1P Tent must be properly seam sealed before it is considered fully waterproof. Although the SilPoly fabric has a waterproof coating, stitching creates small openings through which water may enter.

Pitch the tent in a dry, ventilated location. Apply a thin, even layer of the included silicone seam sealer to the structural seams, zipper stitching and reinforced attachment areas.

Work the silicone gently into the stitching and avoid leaving unnecessarily thick deposits. Allow the treatment to cure completely before folding or packing the shelter.

Care and Long-Term Storage

Shake loose dirt, grass and debris from the shelter after every trip. Wipe localized marks gently with water and a soft cloth.

Allow the Owyhee 1P Tent to dry completely before long-term storage. Pay particular attention to the seams, zipper, guy-out points and storage sack.

Avoid machine washing, harsh detergent, bleach and high heat. Do not store the tent while wet, and avoid leaving it exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods when it is not being used.

Inspect the fabric, zipper, X-Pac top cone, line-locs, guy-out cords and seam sealing before each backcountry trip. Repair small punctures and loose attachment points before they become larger problems.
